The two Tobico Towers are very significant resources for those who promote the understanding of nature.  They are also fun places to visit.  We have saved them.  They are open and you can use them now.

Time, weather and abuse have required the State to prevent their use until they can be upgraded.  Present estimates are that about $35,000 will be needed for each structure to be made safe for another 15 years of use.

The Friends of the Bay City Recreation Area are starting an effort to raise the money needed to return these Saginaw Valley marsh observation delights back to their role in raising awareness and the enjoyment of our watershed.

The Saginaw Valley Sustainability Society is making their web-site available for the Friends of the Bay City State Recreation Area to publicize the effort to get the towers restored.

These pages are underdevelopment and should be complete with current information by August 25, 2010.

April 19, 2011              $41,800 Grant from Frank N. Andersen Foundation.

March 27, 2011            Jamboree/Comedy Show/Auction profited $2800.

January 29, 2011         5k Thermal Run/Walk profited $1500.

November 5, 2010       Fish Fry Fundraiser profited $2300.

September 18, 2010    Bike Ride to Save Tobico Towers profited $2100.

We are looking for people and groups with ideas to help us raise the needed funds. Send in an idea and your phone number and we will work with you to set up a fun way to raise money for the restoration.
